One reason why Japanese is such a hard language to learn is that , at least for an English speaker, the grammar is downright bizarre. " Pam wa Tokyo ni hon o kata " is how you would say " Pam bought the book in Tokyo " in Japanese. The literal translation of that sentence is " Pam Tokyo in the book bought". Go figure !
