Why on earth do they use roman numbers for indicating when an American film was made? You know, at the end of a movie,( I think this is especially true for old movies....) when they are running the credits they will show you these roman numbers which you have a very short time to decipher in order to know when the film was produced. Now I can do this detective work if I have about 10 seconds. Unfortunately the numbers usually only appear on the screen for about 5 seconds......... Does anyone out there know how this custom got started? I mean the first American film to use roman numbers was not filmed in Italy during the heyday of the Roman Empire.........
